The crash happened around 9:07 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at the intersection of Crooked Hill Road and Wicks Road in Brentwood, Suffolk County Police said.

Anthony Ayala, 19, of Brentwood was operating the 2018 KTM dirt bike southbound on Wicks Road when he collided with the 2016 Jeep Renegade which was traveling northbound on Crooked Hill Road, according to police.

Ayala, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the dirt bike and sustained numerous injuries, said police.

Ayala was transported by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. 

The driver of the Jeep, Rafael Cardenas-Jiminez, 52, of Central Islip, was not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
